Happiness & Pain

What is the most desired feeling? Is it the feeling of Happiness or the feeling of Pain? If I had to answer that question, I would most certainly choose the feeling of happiness. And I am confident that everyone desires the same.

The term “Friendship” – How generalized can it get?

It’s quarter past three in the afternoon. I am sitting at a crowded café sipping at my coffee. I don’t like it black so I add in a little cream with latte. There is one empty seat at the other end of my table. A guy, not so old, comes close to me and says, “Buddy, can I share this seat? I need to rest my feet.” “You can”, I said. “It’s not occupied.” The moment he sat, he thanked me and introduced himself to me.

Men in Blue – A Total Whitewash

The Test series between the World Cup Champions, India & England ended today with a magnificent win of 4-0 for England. I am sure not even the English fans had hoped for such a win. England played exceptionally well and they rightfully deserve the number one spot in the ICC Test Rankings.

I am...

Have we ever tried imagining green pastures or meadows? Have we ever tried listening to the birds chirruping in the trees? How about the sound of the water when it beats on the rocks or the sound of the waves lashing at the shore? When was the last time the pleasant breeze filled your spirit with hope & self-confidence? When was the last time you seriously prayed to God, the Almighty, to bring peace to this world? When was the last time you helped someone bring a smile to their face? When was the last time someone smiled in gratitude to all that you had done for them?

Marriage - An Eternal Bond of LOVE.

A well educated personality has defined marriage as a rotten, man-made institution where two people of opposite sex bond together only for body warmth.

Let’s face it… We are living in the 21st century and most of us think just the same.

Mumbai Blasts - 13/07

The Mumbai blasts that rocked the populated cities of KabutarKhana in Dadar, Zaveri Bazaar & the Opera House killed about 21 people and injured 141*. All that was left after the blasts were a few scattered limbs and a pool of blood. What a feast?

Dear terrorists, don’t you see what damage you have done?

How wealthy are you?

Once on a rainy day, while I was walking my way to college, I happened to come across a fruit vendor. She was walking on the street with a basket full of fruits on her head. And it was raining heavily. While she was going to take a turn to the other street, she just slipped and fell. And the fruits from her basket were scattered all over the road. No one wanted to get wet. But there was one young boy who didn’t hesitate to help her pick up her fruits and place them back in her basket while everyone just stood there and watched. I thought maybe he would slip one in his pocket.

The Journey through Life

What is the goal of an athlete? Yes, obviously it’s the gold medal or the World Cup Trophy. Does he stop once he has won it? Never. He will always strive for another.

That is how life is. Everyone has dreams waiting to be realized.

BLACK MONEY

There are people in India who work hard everyday. It’s not fame or fortune that they strive. They just feel contented doing their job & making a living out of it. However, their pay is not always worth their efforts. I am not talking about the people who work in air-conditioned rooms or those that boss around doing nothing. I am talking about those that work in the fields, factories & construction sites.

Parents, nurture your children

Last week, I was tending to my garden that had become a real mess. I was just wondering what it was that made it so cluttered. I looked right in the middle of this mess and I noticed that it was the dried-up Morning Glory that had created the so called junkyard in my lovely garden. While I was clearing this up,

Friendship - Why we don't keep in touch?

A friend in need is a friend indeed – a wonderful phrase. It has been well known and time tested. But do we always know when our friend is in need? At times, one can only guess and at other times, one never knows until & unless he/she is told.

The world we live in is a very cruel place. It demands a lot from its people - targets to be met, objectives to be achieved and lots of cash to be raised.

Goa - At the brim of destruction

19th December 1961 marked a day of liberation from the Portuguese rule. The people of Goa celebrated this day with lots of hope and enthusiasm. Little did they know that ending the Portuguese rule would bring an end to the strategic developments in the state of Goa. No longer is there an organized state

The Medium of Instruction in Goan Schools

Dev boro dis dium. Well, it’s Konkani. And I am sure this is the right way of speaking it. I have studied in English medium school and I speak English fluently. But, I also speak Konkani. Though I have not mastered the language, I do know how to communicate with fellow Goans in Konkani.

Konkani always remains alive in a Goan no matter how fluently English is spoken. But recently, we have encountered unwanted issues over selection of a language as the medium of instruction in the different Goan schools. Some parents & politicians have been focusing on Konkani as the main language to be adopted from the primary level onwards. I have just one question: Are we prepared to develop backwards?

World Cup 2011- Who benefits?

28 years is very a long time. And after the long wait, the ‘Men in Blue’ have done it. They have won the World Cup 2011. Finally, Sachin Tendulkar has fulfilled his dream of having a World Cup win in his kitty. He has scored the highest number of runs in the tournament. The world is now eagerly awaiting his 100th century in One Day Internationals.

India is at the top of the world and I am proud to be an Indian.
